‍SWIFT/BIC code?

A SWIFT code, also called a BIC (Bank Identifier Code), is a
standardised code that identifies banks and financial
institutions in international transactions.

What's the difference between SWIFT and BIC?
There's no functional difference. A SWIFT code and a BIC (Bank Identifier Code) are the same thing. Both terms refer to the standardised code used to identify banks and financial institutions in international transfers. "SWIFT" comes from the network that uses these codes; "BIC" is the technical name for the code itself.
How do I find a SWIFT code?
You can find a SWIFT code by searching directly on the Pesa website. Just enter the recipient's country and bank, and the relevant code will come up. Alternatively, you can check your bank statement, log in to your online banking portal, or contact your bank directly.
Is a SWIFT code required for every international transfer?
In most cases, yes. Most banks and financial institutions require a SWIFT code to route funds to the correct bank when sending money internationally. That said, some transfer methods may use alternative routing systems,  so it's worth confirming the requirements with your provider before sending.
How long is a SWIFT code?
A SWIFT code is either 8 or 11 characters long. The 8-character version identifies the bank and country, while the 11-character version includes an additional branch code. If you're unsure which to use, the 8-character code typically routes to the bank's head office by default.
